Italy Train Schedules

Italy train schedules, info about train travel in Italy and how to buy tickets on line

Travel by train in Italy is efficient, when moving between two cities divided by a short distance. For example, when traveling from Milan, Rome or Bologna to Ancona it’s worth taking the train instead of a flight. With the train you actually reach the center of the city, avoiding the transfer to airports and the long lines at the check in.

Rail travel in Italy is generally cheap, efficient and well coordinated.

The most expensive, fast and comfortable category of train is the Eurostar. These trains offer better comfort and air conditioning, invaluable during the summer months.

Eurostar trains only connect main towns and requires a reservation which can be made at the time of ticket purchase. On the whole is absolutely worth the extra money!

Before boarding, remember to validate your ticket inserting it in one of the punching machines on the train platforms.

If you bought your ticket on line, punching is not required.

It's easy to check train schedules and buy tickets online: click on the link below and you'll be connected with Trenitalia, the Italian transportation company.
