Where is Next Tuscany?
Le Marche, a charming region of central Italy, was named by the New York Times the next Tuscany. This area offers the same charms and more tranquility than other better known Italian regions because, surprisingly enough, it has not yet been reached by mass tourism.Marche is on the same latitude as Tuscany and Umbria but has lived a separated life for many centuries as it was historically and geographically isolated. Visso is a charming mountain village located in the heart of the Sibillini Mountains close to the ski resorts of Ussita and Frontignano. The lovely main square is surrounded by historical buildings with the mountains as a background and the village itself boasts a past rich in art and history.
This enchanting burgh perched on a hill offers the stunning view on one side of the Adriatic Sea and Monte Conero and on the other of the Sibillini mountains and the Gran Sasso.San Ginesio has the typical structure of the Medieval village enclosed in a ring of defensive walls.
This elegant little town is the birthplace of the poet Giacomo Leopardi and of the tenor Beniamino Gigli. Villa Colloredo in the main square is the beautiful stage to unforgettable opera events.
