Conero Coast

The Monte Conero coast offers spectacular views, clear waters and some of the best beaches in Italy.

Unlike most shores along the Adriatic Sea, the beaches on the Monte Conero riviera, are pebbly: this peculiarity keeps the water clear, and of a very inviting hue of turquoise.

The coastline is spectacular, with the green of the mountain plunging dramatically into the sea.

The coast is rather steep and it might take a little effort to reach the shores but you’ll be rewarded by the quiet atmosphere and the breathtaking views.

Sirolo, Numana and Potonovo Bay offer the most popular beaches of the area and the coast is peppered by lovely seaside restaurants.

Click on the pictures and the links below to read about each location.

conero coast Portonovo

Portonvo Bay is located just south of Ancona. It is the first beach outside Ancona, it is loved by local sun lovers and offers a breathtaking view of Riviera del Conero.

You’ll find here all the sunbather comforts: restaurants, great hotels and camping grounds.

conero coast Sirolo

Sirolo is a lovely Italy beach resort village perched on the side of Monte Conero. It provides the tourist a wide choice of B&B and hotels.

From Sirolo you can reach some of the prettiest beaches of the area: San Michele, Spiaggia Urbani and Le Due Sorelle.

Sirolo is one of the EU Blue Banner beaches of the area and it is considered the most beautiful village of the Adriatic.

The location is spectacular, the little center is closed to the traffic and very well cared for.

conero coast Numana

Next to Sirolo, Numana is a picturesque village built on a side of Monte Conero.

It overlooks a small beach and a touristic port, to the south it extends into the long shore of Marcelli, a popular sea resort.

Numana was an important port for the Greeks and the Romans.

The center lost importance after an earthquake in 558 that made the city disappear in the sea.

Although Numana was rebuilt, in 1292, another earthquake inflicted great damage to the city.
