Italian Dessert Wines

Discover Italian dessert wines from Le Marche, one of the great Italy wine regions.

Your Italian wine rack won’t be complete without some sweet wines that will complement the desserts at the end of any Italian menu.

Originally produced by the farmers for their own use, these wines are now again in fashion and they enjoy new popularity.

Vernaccia di Serrapetrona

Often fine Italian sparkling wines are white and dry but this Vernaccia is red and comes from a local grape variety that can be found only in the Serrapetrona area.

Ruby colored, not too sweet with a red fruit taste, the Vernaccia goes with fruits, fruit tarts and the dryer version can also accompany cheeses and local salami.

Vino Cotto Ascolano

This wine is obtained by concentrating the grape juice and age it in small barrels.

Made since antiquity by the farmers of the Loro Piano area, has lately been rediscovered and its rarity makes it precious.

Vino Cotto is celebrated in a four days long festival in the lovely village of Loro Piano. A great occasion for wine and food tasting.

Vino di Visciole

Visciole are wild cherries. They are picked in the summer, fermented first with sugar and then in the autumn again with the grape juice.

The result is a red, slightly sparkling wine with a distinct aroma of red fruits and of a strong ruby red color.

Vin Santo

White wine made with grapes dried during the winter on straw mats. The sweetness level goes from dry to extremely sweet.

The origin of the name comes from the wine used in catholic Mass, where often sweet wines were preferred.
